"Tell them I hate them!" (I am a late bloomer with this show, but I love it! That's also why I put a quote from the Hyperchicken Lawyer up there in the green floaty box at the top of the page.)
I bought all the seasons on DVD. I think it's probably funnier than the Simpsons, which is hard to do. I think it's more sophisticated humour, which is probably why it didn't last very long.
I have been finding it to be funnier than the Simpsons, too. There's just something about these characters and the fact that anything can be explained away by alien and/or futuristic factors. It took me a few episodes to figure out that I really liked it, and now I am hooked. I might have to get those DVDs eventually, myself. :)
